VICE: Fashion Week Internationale - Cambodia

My favourite Fashion Week Internationale episode so far, where Charlet goes to Cambodia to check out the country’s first ever fashion week. I like that in this one she goes way beyond the event and looks into the garment industry, where heaps of poor village women work for peanuts to make clothes for the likes of H&M, the Gap, etc. 

My favourite/the saddest part is when Charlet (the chick who make the docos) talks to a young worker wearing a ‘Berlin Fashion Week’ hoodie without even knowing what a Fashion Week is, let alone know where Berlin is. Even sadder are the lack of prospect the girls have, it’s either inhaling poisonous fumes or competing for peanuts with equally poor lady boys through prostitution
